To provide leadership in legal education by example and to maintain the status of the leading institution imparting legal education in the Gujarat University and the region is the mission of the college. In its march towards excellence in the legal education, Sir L. A. Shah Law College is offering Ph.D. Programme in law by establishing a Research Center. Sir L. A. Shah Law College is the first law college among the entire Gujarat University having a Research Center in Law. At present, the college has two recognized Ph.D. Guides viz. Prin. Dr. Rushikesh Mehta and Asst. Professor Dr. Mayuri Pandya. From the year 2012-13, six research students are enrolled as research students under the guidance of aforesaid two guides at the College.
The College is offering special Library Facilities and Research facilities to the students by providing separate research room and guiding the research students during the college hours and thereafter. The research students are assigned course work and given guidance as per the UGC Regulations.

Research Training to the LL.M. Students :
The LL.M. Students are also provided guidance by the college for preparation of Doctrinal Research, Non-doctrinal Research, Clinical Research and Dissertation in their final semester. The LL.M. students are also trained and motivated for preparing and presenting research paper at the seminars and conferences as well as for writing articles at the reputed law journals.
